GAD holds VAWC & Anti- Sexual Harassment seminar
Employees of JRMSU Dipolog were sent to a seminar on Anti-Sexual Harassment Act and Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act on August 5, 2015 at Bamboo Garden, Dipolog City.
The seminar aimed to inform the faculty and staff of the salient features of the laws and to value the dignity of others at all times.
Speaker Atty. Jerry N. Mayormita, Director II of the Civil Service Commission Zamboanga del Norte, emphasized that government employees caught sexually harassing anyone can be suspended or dismissed on government service or imprisonment.
Mayormita explained that sexual harassment “is any unwelcome sexual advances” that is not only restricted to physical behavior but also verbal that is of sexual in nature.
The seminar was organized by the Gender and Development Office headed by JRMSU System GAD Focal Person Ms. Regina Cinco with full support from campus GAD Focal Person Dr. Clarita D. Bidad.
