Five masscom studes, TSC scribes join videojournalism confab

      To get abreast on the different concepts of directing, editing, and field reporting, five mass communication students and selected writers of the publication, “The State Collegian”, of Jose Rizal Memorial State University of both Dipolog and Dapitan campuses had successfully attended the Videojournalism training held at the Audio Visual Room, JRMSU-Main campus last January 13-14, 2019.

      The two-day undertaking, sponsored by Representative Seth Frederick Jalosjos through his convenor, Mr. Gualberto M. Laput, is designed to know various techniques on how to deliver news reports both in radio and television as well as to inculcate ideas in documentary film-making.

      Among the five mass communication students who graced the event were J. Israel P. Adriatico, RJ Nerf M. Calasang, Ellaine Cristy Du, Cyril Rex R. Gayao, and Zheirah Lyn A. Portugal as well as some university’s publication writers together with the mass com instructor and student publication adviser, Mr. Eduardo C. Mira.

      The said gathering was conducted by Ms. Arlyn dela Cruz, a veteran journalist, producer and international award winning film director who is now the news director and anchor of Radyo-Inquirer. Among her directorial works are Maratabat, Bubog and The Barker. The film, Maratabat which tackled about her experiences as a reporter in a clash of clans in Mindanao, won Best International Film during the People’s Film Festival in New York City in 2016.

      During the gathering, the participants underwent several workshops on live and recorded reporting while others did documentary video about the different topics
