With strong teamwork and collaborative efforts, Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) made a historic triumph as overall champion in Sports competition during the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Games held in Pagadian City last November 23-30, 2024.
JRMSU, comprising five campus (Dipolog, Dapitan, Katipunan, Tampilisan, and Siocon), dominated most of the sporting events particularly in athletics, karatedo, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, volleyball, swimming, futsal, and football, as they outsmarted more or less 30 other state universities and colleges across six regions in Mindanao.
JRMSU ranked first with remarkable and impressive 79 gold, 26 silver, and 48 bronze.
With these impressive results, JRMSU โDipolog Campus Director, Dr. Marvin A. Recapente, expressed his unwavering gratitude and salutations to all the athletes for the great job as well as to the officials, coaches, chaperons and kitchen staff.
Following the JRMSU was the North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) with 57 gold, 34 silver, and 48 bronze. Seizing the third place was the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) with 54 gold, 63 siiver, 33 bronze while the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines โ Cagayan (USTP โ Cagayan) collected 44 gold, 44 silver, and 48 bronze placing them fourth.
On the other hand, Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) settled fifth place earning 34 gold, 16 silver, and 19 bronze and the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (PPSU) grabbed the sixth place having 26 gold, 39 silver, and 37 bronze.
Moreover, the Central Mindanao University (CMU) claimed seventh spot while Caraga State University (CSU) ranked eighth. Sultan Kuldarat State University (SKSU) and Bukidnon State University (BukSU) placed ninth and tenth places, respectively.
โIt was a team effort and thank you to all the JRMSU administration for their great support,โ said Prof, Ivo Mathew M. Siaton, the Associate Dean of the Student Affairs and Services.
